ALPFA Puerto Rico and the National Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce Announce Formal Partnership to Expand Professional Opportunities for Puerto Rican Professionals Across the United States

June 1, 2026

SAN JUAN, PR — ALPFA Puerto Rico and the National Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce (NPRCC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding formalizing a partnership that will extend ALPFA's full suite of professional resources, programming, and community infrastructure to NPRCC's membership network. As the NPRCC transitions away from its individual membership tier, its members will be invited to join ALPFA Puerto Rico, gaining access to a national organization of 120,000 professionals, active local chapters in key diaspora cities, and a growing platform for Puerto Rican economic engagement.

The partnership brings together two organizations with deep, complementary roots in the Puerto Rican professional community. NPRCC has spent years building an advocacy-focused network of Puerto Rican professionals committed to the island's future. ALPFA Puerto Rico is one of the fastest-growing chapters in the ALPFA national network, with over 1,500 subscribers, a structured governance model, and chapter presence spanning the island and the mainland. Together, the organizations are positioned to offer members something neither could provide alone: the combination of sustained advocacy and an active professional home with recurring programming, corporate partnerships, and local engagement in cities where Puerto Rican professionals live and work.

"This is about expanding what is possible for Puerto Rican professionals. The NPRCC has built a powerful network of people who are deeply committed to Puerto Rico's future. ALPFA gives that commitment an infrastructure to act on. Together, we are building the kind of professional ecosystem that Puerto Rican professionals deserve," shares Laura Camila Rivera, President, ALPFA Puerto Rico.

For NPRCC members, the transition to ALPFA Puerto Rico means immediate access to local chapter programming in 45 key cities, including Chicago, Orlando, DC, Baltimore, New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia, as well as the full national ALPFA network. Members will be able to attend professional development events, engage with corporate partners, connect with a national community of over 120,000 Latino business professionals, and participate in specific programming designed to create meaningful connections between mainland Puerto Rican professionals and opportunities on the island.

The partnership reflects a shared recognition that the infrastructure now exists to receive diaspora engagement at a new level of depth and scale. ALPFA Puerto Rico's chapter model, national reach, and corporate relationships provide a strong, lasting foundation for meaningful professional growth and connection.

"The NPRCC has always been about making sure Puerto Rican professionals have a voice and a network that matches their ambition," said Joel Berrocal, Executive Director of the NPRCC. "ALPFA Puerto Rico has built exactly the kind of infrastructure we want our members to have access to. This partnership is a natural next step for both organizations."

NPRCC members will also benefit from a dedicated onboarding experience, including discounted membership, unlocking access to island and mainland events, entrepreneurship programming, and a growing network of Latino executives. This collaboration marks the first of several strategic moves by ALPFA Puerto Rico in 2026 to further connect Puerto Rican talent, capital, and community.
